Kingswood newsletter

The Design Council initiative, Creative Partnerships, has been involved with Kingswood Infant School to produce a newsletter for parents and pupils, with the object of handing its design and production over to staff at the school when the project finishes. Working with a writer and me, the children conduct interviews, make crosswords and take photographs.

I taught part-time on a regular basis for many years, starting as a silkscreen tutor in adult education, then lecturing in graphic design at Sir John Cass (now part of London Metropolitan University) before moving to Middlesex University as Senior Lecturer in Information Design.

I left teaching when I became terminally frustrated with bureaucracy and the combination of expansion of student numbers and reduction in staff.

I now get involved in more varied teaching, with Ripley & Friends on education projects as part of the Lord Mayor's Show, and more recently with Creative Partnerships.

I also deliver occasional training sessions on briefing, preparation of material and production issues for clients.

Pink numbers will open larger versions and/or more examples in a viewer window.

Kingswood playground letters

The masthead was put together using letters the children had cut from squares of paper after exploring the shapes of letters in the playground.
